Founded in 1916 in the United States, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) is a non-governmental organization focused on the accreditation of management schools worldwide. Its core mission is to promote and ensure the quality of global management education. Today, AACSB is recognized as one of the most prestigious accrediting bodies for business schools and MBA programs, holding significant international authority. This accreditation is regarded as one of the three most prestigious business school accreditations globally, alongside the EQUIS accreditation from Europe.

To enhance the quality of teaching and research in the business and management fields, and to fulfill the mission of "cultivating students to become competitive, responsible, and internationally-minded professionals," I-Shou University’s College of Management applied for membership in the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in 2009, joining the ranks of those pursuing international business accreditation. In the same year, the International College was established. In 2011, the College of Management was separated from the College of Hospitality and Tourism, and the three colleges embarked on the journey of being the first in the world to pursue AACSB accreditation. After four years of qualification reviews and preliminary accreditation procedures, the university was granted permission for the official initial accreditation process in November 2015, and successfully passed the initial accreditation in February 2016.
Currently, among the more than 160 universities in Taiwan, I-Shou University is the 14th to have passed AACSB accreditation. Furthermore, only four public and private universities south of Changhua have achieved this accreditation. Additionally, there are only 53 institutions globally in the field of hospitality and tourism that have received this accreditation. As a result, I-Shou University is the only university in Taiwan to have earned this prestigious honor.
